Starlight Theatre School is a member of the British Theatre Dance Association and an Approved BTDA Examination Centre. We hold at least 6 exam sessions a year to enable the student to progress technically. Students who finish their exams are awarded a British Theatre Dance Association Diploma in Classical Ballet, Modern and Tap.
In addition to this we also offer graded BTDA exams in Lyrical, Classical Greek, Acrobatics, Musical Theatre & Drama.
London College of Music exams are offered in singing, and a fully comprehensive tumbling syllabus offering graded exams up to a professional level through Acrobatic ARTS.
Graded Examinations in Dance make a significant contribution to education and the performing arts because they:
Encourage individual students to express themselves through dance
Enable students to work towards qualifications that open up career opportunities
Place an emphasis on performance
Provide students with opportunities to experience, understand and value the language and art of dance
Enable students to develop a broad base of skills and abilities in different disciplines.
Allow students to develop their social skills and their own personalities
Our examinations are accredited into the National Framework
ANNUAL SHOWS AND COMPETITIONS
At starlight all children will perform in our annual show in June, showcasing the talents learnt from all subjects taught.
The stage school members also compete in competitions in March and September, and soloists also enter all England Championship heats and finals.
